Eurovision 2009 Portugal: Flor de Lis – Todas as Ruas do Amor

Posted on March 9, 2019 by admin

[youtube iDHaVZt5j-w]

Se sou tinta tu és tela
Se sou chuva és aguarela
Se sou sal és branca areia
Se sou mar és maré-cheia
Se sou céu és nuvem nele
Se sou estrela és de encantar
Se sou noite és luz para ela
Se sou dia és o luar

Sou a voz do coração
Numa carta aberta ao mundo
Sou o espelho d’emoção
Do teu olhar
Profundo
Sou um todo
Num instante
Corpo dado
Em jeito amante
Sou o tempo que não passa
Quando a saudade
Me abraça

Beija o mar o vento e a lua
Sou um sol
Em neve nua em todas as ruas
Do amor
Serás meu e eu serei tua

Se sou tinta tu és tela
Se sou chuva És aguarela
Se sou sal És branca areia
Se sou mar és maré cheia
Se sou céu és nuvem nele
Se sou estrela és de encantar
Se sou noite és luz para ela
Se sou dia és o luar

Beija o mar o vento e a lua
Sou um sol em neve nua
Em todas as ruas
Do amor
Serás meu e eu serei tua

English Translation

All The Streets Of Love

If I were paint, you would be canvas
If I were rain, you would be aquarelle
If I were salt, you would be white sand
If I were sea, you would be high tide
If I were the sky, you would be a cloud in it
If I were a star, you would be its shine
If I were night, you would be its light
If I were daylight, you would be the moonlight

I’m the voice of the heart
I’m an open letter to the world
I’m the mirror of emotion
Of your deep look.
I’m complete
In a second
I give my body
Like a lover
I’m the time that doesn’t pass
When the lonely feeling
gets a hold on me

Kiss the sea, the wind and the moon.
I’m a sun
in naked snow. In all the streets
of love
You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.

Kiss the sea, the wind and the moon.
I’m a sun
in naked snow. In all the streets
of love
You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.

Prevod na srpski

Sve ulice ljubavi

Tvog dubokog pogleda.
Ja sam cela
U sekundi
Dajem svoje telo
Kao ljubavnica
Ja sam vreme koje ne prolazi
Kada me usamljenost
uhvati

Poljubi more, vetar i mesec.
Ja sam sunce
na golom snegu. Na svim ulicama
ljubavi
Ti bićeš moj a ja biću tvoja.

Poljubi more, vetar i mesec.
Ja sam sunce
na golom snegu. Na svim ulicama
ljubavi
Ti bićeš moj i ja biću tvoja.

Great song! Not typical Eurovision style but maybe that’s exactly the reason why Portugal gets my vote this year as well!

    I totally agree, admin!
This song gives me a such a good felling. Makes me smile and smell the Spring, the Love, the Raimbow!
    It’s very tradicional/folklore song. 🙂
Last year, I also enjoy “Senhora do Mar” – Vânia Fernandes.
I don’t think we’re gonna win this year but… I’m sure we try!
And even if we don’t win I will be very proud of Flor-de-Lis.
I’m a travel agent so… winning it will be great for our tourism too! eheheh

Just a small correction in the translation.
    The last sentence:
Serás meu e eu serei tua – You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.

Thank you very much for supporting my country. 🙂

Yes I think you have the right to be proud! I liked it A LOT even without knowing what it means 🙂

“Senhora do Mar” was amazing as well and actually one of my 3 favorite songs last year (if not The favorite) 🙂
Of course I was disappointed that we gave only one point to Portugal but at least I contributed to it by voting for Vânia Fernandes 😀
    BTW
    full-sea? maybe tide?
Sou um todo – I’m complete? I’m all? … maybe something like that?)

Maré-cheia means when whe sea is “growing”.
Maybe the correct is really tide: high tide.
Lol Sorry my english is awful these last years since I finish school.
Sou um todo… Yeah, I think we can use “complete”. Thanks!
This song is very poetic so sometimes in the translation the ideas can be lost… 🙁

When in the song there was the word “Saudade” it was very hard to translate because it’s a portuguese word for the felling we have when we miss someone one or something.
They say that this world only exists in Portuguese… 🙁
We say: Tenho saudade. (I have saudade.)

I totally love this song, after last year I thought Portugal wd never have such a strong performance. Vania was excellent, it is difficult to beat her, but this year with this lovely song with a soft relaxing tune i guess Portugal will do just fine
Love the voice, rhythm and lyric.

Lets hope Portugal win this year.

I think it’s a lovely song, very natural and confident, with the beautiful advantage of being sang in Portuguese. I didn’t actually liked any other song for this year’s ESC so I’m hoping this one might win – and this would be easier if people would just vote for the good music they’re listening, instead of voting for the country they’re most fond of.

( btw, admin, maybe instead of “I’m complete” you could translate it for “I’m whole”, but then again, it’s not a big deal 😀 )

    The chords are

    In the beguinning

    G, Em, C, D and back to G

    In the rest of the music is G , D , C , D and back to G

I think this music is one of the best of this festival. I never saw a portuguese song with this kind of power and feeling(and i really loved the music from the last year). The music from the last year was a little melo and lived only from the great voice of the singer.

I hope Portugal gets a good position in the final, because its to difficult to win we don´t have that much of political power just our emmigrants=P

That music means a lot to portugal, thanks to the instrumental work, the voice, the rythm, and the power itself…that is what being portuguese is all about.

    gets a hold on me
Kiss the sea, the wind and the moon.
    I’m a sun
in naked snow. In all the streets
    of love
You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.
If I were paint, you would be canvas
If I were rain, you would be aquarelle
If I were salt, you would be white sand
If I were sea, you would be high tide
If I were the sky, you would be a cloud in it
If I were a star, you would be the charming
If I were night, you would be its light
If I were daylight, you would be the moonlight
Kiss the sea, the wind and the moon.
    I’m a sun
in naked snow. In all the streets
    of love
You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours

    Hi!
I was reading Susana´s translation and I think she did a great job. It´s not easy to translate these lyrics, they´re are written in a very poetic way.
I copied hers and did some slight changes to it. Hope she doesn´t mind. There are many ways to translate the same thing but I thought this looks closer to the original lyrics. Eventhough it might not make completely sense in english, even the portuguese doesn´t at times because it´s very metaphorically written, at least that´s what I think.

    Anyways… here it is..

Se sou tinta tu és tela – If I’m paint you are canvas
Se sou chuva és aguarela – If I’m rain you’re watercolour
Se sou sal és branca areia – I’f I’m the salt you’re white sand
Se sou mar és maré-cheia – If I’m sea you’re high tide
Se sou céu és nuvem nele – If I’m sky you’re cloud on him
Se sou estrela és de encantar – If I’m star you’re enchanting
Se sou noite és luz para ela – If I’m night you’re light on it
Se sou dia és o luar – If I’m day you’re the moonlight

Sou a voz do coração – I’m the voice of the heart
Numa carta aberta ao mundo – In an open letter to the world
Sou o espelho d’emoção – I’m the mirror of emotion
Do teu olhar profundo – Of your deep look.
    Sou um todo – I’m a whole
Num instante – In an instant
    Corpo dado – Given body
Em jeito amante – In a lover manner
Sou o tempo que não passa – I’m the time that doesn’t pass
Quando a saudade – When the lonely feeling
    Me abraça – embraces me

Beija o mar o vento e a lua – Kiss the sea, the wind and the moon.
    Sou um sol – I’m a sun
Em neve nua – In naked snow
Em todas as ruas do amor – In all streets of love
Serás meu e eu serei tua – You’ll be mine and I’ll be yours.

    Beautiful music…
I just can´t get enough of it!

    Mucha suerte.

Thank you all european friends for your support to our song and Flor-de-Lis. We know portuguese is a difficult language so it’s amazing you were touched by something you can’t understand. It’s the power of music 😉

Flor de lis are superb, and performed so well in Moscow. The accordionist Ana Sofia Campea gives a true modern fado type accompaniment to Daniela, and the group should become very populor all over Europe.
Does anyone know if they have an album due out soon, and where ?

I’m still loving this song! Portugal, you did well choosing this song. It’s so sunny and cheerful, it always lifts my heart to hear it. I’ve bought the track off Amazon and am trying to learn how to sing along (I have no Portuguese at all) – and thanks to Dianan for the translation! I too am looking out for an album. Bring it on!

I just want to say that your song was the best in the contest. At least to me – of course. For a long time I haven’t heard any song that would put me in such a good mood as this one. My fiance can tell you something about it – hearing me trying to sing in portuguese (he is portuguese so unfortunately understands everything that is wrong 🙂 )… Once again congratulations for a great performance.
