Jelena Tomasevic – Oro ~ Portuguese Version

Portuguese Lyrics

Minha dor

Serbia 2008 Eurovision Song

Nada mais será como dantes
A saudade está no meu fado
Nunca vou saber, meu querido

Sinto o teu amor, o teu cheiro
Será que esta dor, não termina?
Deixai que eu parta já

Nuna nei, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna nei
Nuna nei, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna nei

Nuna nei, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna nei
Nuna nei, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna nei

English Translation

My Pain

It won’t be like it was before
Saudade is in my fado
I won’t get known, my sweetheart
Where did my smile go?
Nothing is stronger than this
I feel your voice surrounding me

I dance at the seashore, I pretend I’m kissing you
I cry out your name, I can’t see you
I feel your love, your smell
When will this pain die?
Let me go right now

Nuna ney, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna ney
Nuna ney, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna ney
This deep pain left me alone and without love

Nuna ney, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna ney
Nuna ney, nuna nuna nuna nuna nuna ney
This deep pain left me alone and without love
This deep pain took him away from this life without glow

About the song, i think that she did a great job, a little bit slavic pronunciation of letter “R”, but insignificant…I really impressed of her ability of languagues

    Cya!

  2. Hi Jonti I am from Greece and I would like to tell you that the greek version is acoustically really nice and almost perfect pronounced. Now about the portugese one I have no idea but it sounds great.

  4. Liked a lot this version !!
jonti_swe, she’s singing in my native language and I can tell you that she pronounces the words 99,9% correct!! I’m really impressed !! 🙂

  5. Saudade is a Galician and Portuguese word for a feeling of nostalgic longing for something or someone that one was fond of and which is lost. It often carries a fatalist tone and a repressed knowledge that the object of longing might really never return.

Fado (translated as destiny or fate) is a music genre which can be traced from the 1820s in Portugal, but probably with much earlier origins. In popular belief, Fado is known to be characterized by mournful tunes and lyrics, often about the sea or the life of the poor. However, in reality Fado is simply a form of song which can be about anything, but must follow a certain structure.

The music is usually linked to the Portuguese word saudade (that has no match in English but it could be understood as nostalgia felt while missing someone), a word describing a sentiment. Another similar English translation can be to pine for something or someone.

So, if we insist on translating the line A saudade está no meu fado, instead of Saudade is in my fado we can say Nostalgia is my fate

  6. I really like this version a lot too. Portuguese sounds really cool when she sings it lol
but once again, as with the greek one, I don’t know the language so I have no idea how correct she pronounces it, but I really like how it sounds. lol
