Eurovision 2009 Winner
Lyrics and Video:
Years ago, when I was younger,
I kinda liked a girl I knew.
She was mine, and we were sweethearts
That was then, but then it’s true
I’m in love with a fairytale,
even though it hurts
‘Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind
I’m already cursed.
Every day we started fighting,
every night we fell in love
No one else could make me sadder,
but no one else could lift me high above
I don’t know what I was doing,
when suddenly, we fell apart
Nowadays, I cannot find her
But when I do, we’ll get a brand new start
I’m in love with a fairytale,
even though it hurts
‘Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind
I’m already cursed
She’s a fairytale
Yeah…
Even though it hurts
‘Cause I don’t care if I lose my mind
I’m already cursed
Prevod na srpski
Bajka
Pre mnogo godina, kad sam bio mlađi,
Nekako mi se sviđala jedna devojka koju sam znao.
Ona je bila moja, i bili smo zaljubljeni
To je bilo onda ali sada je tačno da
Zaljubljen sam u bajku,
Iako to boli
Jer nije me briga ako izgubim razum
Zaljubljen sam u bajku,
Iako to boli
Jer nije me briga ako izgubim razum
Već sam proklet.
Ona je bajka
Da…
Iako to boli
Jer nije me briga ako izgubim razum
Već sam proklet.

The song is great… 😀
Alexandr supper! I enjoy his song….
So the results : )
List is very near as everybody guess here; Norway,Iceland,Azarbaijan,Turkey
I think, there should be find another technic for voting. All countries using their polical or cultural emotions during voting. Music and show shifting into second maybe third place.
Cyprus gives Greece*, Turkey gives Azarbaijan**, North counties together, Malta always UK etc.etc. It doesn’t make any sense…
* However Greece was also very nice this year.
** and Turkey and Azarbaijan are too :)))))
Perfect song, cute boy^^
I’m proud he’s origianlly from Belarus (Like me^^)
WOOOOW! i Love this song! it’s beautiful! wonderful!
AND ALEXANDER iS a very charming boy..he’s very nice and cute!
Norway was the best in Eurovision’09!
12 from greece
I AM FROM GREECE BUT I VOTED FOR ALEXANDER!
HE IS SO CUTE I LOVE HIM AND HIS SONG!!!
ALEXANDER MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN SAKIS!!!!
LOVE FROM GREECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the song is sweet but nothing special. I believe it won eurovision because mostly teenage girls and their mamas watch it!
He sings “Years ago, when I was younger”, because the song is about his former girlfriend, that he was with 5 years ago. So it is some years ago, and he must have been 17.
I’m from Turkey and Norway deserved this result. But I have to state that evaluation is not healthy as everybody gave points its own neighbour or has common in historical relations… Norway’s rythm has an advantage as it is Braveheart-like movie soundtracks and makes you happy during listening to that song.
Also we have to remember always that Eurovision is just a contest, not a fighting.
Alexander you are the perfect boy in the whole world!I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!I would like to say that F.Y.R.O.M is called SKOPIA and not Macedonia my friend…
i luv the farytale. great song and i vote 4 norway 12 points and a big kissxxxx

“actually ı think hadiese is quite good..but armenian’s song is FULL OF turkish culture..k5”
Inga & Anush Arshakyan’s song is Armenian and nothing in it is Turkish !
I’m curious from when the Armenian culture begins to call turkish?………….
Better don’t to speak about things what you don’t know for sure! And stop to say that every nice culture came from Turkey only. You have your culture and we have our, don’t mix them!
This song truly deserved to be the FIRST !!!!! Without doubt it is the BEST song for me 🙂
Well I’m from Australia and I cannot comprehend how this song could win by such a large margin. It’s not a bad song but I would have liked:
1.Estonia-credit for singing in their own language and getting as far as they have.
2.Armenia-mixing folk with the not so folk
3.Lordi-just becuse they held the previous record for highest points.
Aleksandr you did a great job!! It was so unbelievable..
Your just super-class!! So delighted you WON it!! Molodec.. Dokozal,4to russkie mogut vse!! Pozdravlaju!!
Alexander gave a great performance and he is for sure an excellent singer!!!!
GO ALEXANDER ………
alexander rybak is ugly….sakis is the best
p.s the ozlem who just commented? you wouldnt be from australia?
My Alexander WON!
I’m from Australia, and yes we watch Eurovision aswell!
Congratulations, i think “Maimis on Thu, 2nd Apr 2009 9:26 pm”, comment summed up “fairytale”.
Again Congratulations Alex!
If you ever do come to Australia, i will be your FIRST ticketbuyer 😀
p.s like one of the other commenters stated- the countries have to get over the greco-turko genre infused with disco music. ENOUGH alreadyy! get over it. Bring on the FOLK!
I was really impressed by the way he mimes what the lyrics tell. It was a wonderful performance and the ryhtm, the lyrics, everything as a whole was really great. I am Turkish, and honestly speaking, he was really better than Hadise…
I love this song and his!!!!i always listen his song.
@ Katya
Sadder is very much a word 🙂

2. Expressive of sorrow or unhappiness.
3. Causing sorrow or gloom; depressing: a sad movie; sad news.
4. Deplorable; sorry: a sad state of affairs; a sad excuse.
5. Dark-hued; somber.
sad
Adjective
[sadder, saddest]

2. causing, suggesting, or expressing sorrow: a sad story
3. deplorably bad: the garden was in a sad state
4. regrettable: it’s rather sad he can’t be with us
5. Brit informal ridiculously pathetic: a sad, boring little wimp
sad – >> sadder (Comparative) ->>> the saddest (Superlative)
First were we sad, fearing you would not come; Now
sadder, that you come so unprovided. –Shak.
Regarding the other remark.. it doesn’t make much sense when taken out of context but actually sounds quite well when you look at it like this:
That was then.
But then, it’s true: I’m in love with a fairytale
I was impressed by the way that Rybak could run around stage and still play the violin so well
Congratulations!!! perfect song i just love it! I am really satisfied with the result :-)) Sakis should understand that this is a song contest and jumping around with tanned skin in a white shirt is not enough to win. This cute little guy is not only sweet but also talented!!! We love you Alex!
I realy love this song,it’s full of love and happiness,
good luck Alexander!
This song was really good and he deserved to win! But some of the lyrics don’t make sense. I live in the USA and English is my first language. 1st of all, sadder is not a word! And some of the lines don’t make sense like”that was then, then it’s true”. What does that mean? But I have to give him credit for writing a song in English, so it doesn’t matter. Overall, it was great.
What a big song wow!!!! greetings from bogota, Colombia. Im colombian Eurofan since ’94 and spain fan. But i’m recognocized the bigger song from Alex Rybak. Congratulations NORWAY. On 2010 see you on Oslo.
he is so sweet!!! And the song is so beautiful, and a little bit sad.. <3<3
I don’t like it, but anyway…congratulations! 😉
