Translated lyrics from Finnish to English. I decided not do the rhyming or the rhythm.

Nice translation, very nice. One thing however: Why is “Kentät kutsuu sankareita, Eikä suinkaan pelkureita” first translated as “The field calls for heroes, and not for the fearful” and the second time correctly “The fields call for heroes, and no ways the fearful”?
Or would it be better if it were: “The fields call for heroes, and by no means the fearful”? Just to be literal…
And I,m pretty sure there is a word for “kamiina” in english too (it’s a type of fireplace).

Still, excellent translation, Chrysalis… Just got to love the way you did the chorus

I don’t have a clue about Finish but
The fields call for heroes, and by no means the fearful
definitely sounds better

And, kamiina for sure sounds like something that should be translated as fireplace (Serbian word is kamin ) but how would you translate the entire part?

Well, literally I think it would be something like this:

“Let there be storm and wind
And at home a warm stove
It’s honor and manhood
To do one’s duty”

At least that is as close as I got to how the original finnish lyrics go. I decided to translate kamiina as stove, I guess that would be the right word, or certainly close…

well stove is the thing in which you cook.. so i guess fireplace would be more appropriate if the point is in “warm house”

Hmm, yes, but then again can’t you use it for warming as well? Ofcourse it could just be translated “And at home a warm fire”, but I’ll let you decide what the best way is… And I’m not sure should the song name (and of course lyrics) be “Where men ride” of “Where the men ride”? It only talks about men riding, nothing more specific than that…
Oh yeah btw, is there any credit in this for me? Don’t get me wrong ofcourse, just asking ;D

I’d say ‘hearth’ is the best word for kamiina, although literally it is indeed (iron) stove. Kamiina is chosen for the rhythm, so I’d say anything that stands for ‘fireplace’ qualifies.

I agree with admin here, doesn’t belong at the Eurovision. Suppose that this is good for heavy metal fans but I don’t like that kind of music at all really.

Hey! Kalimera from Greece!

Maybe Lordi won Eurovision 2006, but Terasbetoni are so much better than they are. Lordi won because they wear freak costumes. Terasbetoni music is a bit more melody than Lordi music.. Becides, they have a beautifull voice… Jarkko Ahola! Who also write the lyrics and the music for the band. He is a big talent….

By the way… Hard Rock Halilyia is not a song you can sing, but missa miehet ratsastaa is great song and i hear it every day. It’s….. WOW! You can’t compare them. Terasbetoni are beter and that’s what it is…

why hard rock Halleluya isnt a song that you can sing? i sing it everytime i hear it, i think the opposite, for me is almost imposible to sing this one, have to kill my throath trying to sing words like “ratsastaa” or “miehuulisuus” xD and notice that im dutch, and we certanly have a difficult to pronounce languague :p but anyway, i like both, but i still think that Lordi were the winner for some reason, and teräsbetoni are not :p

I think that their performance was rather good but it wasn’t appreciated enough cause the people have been fed up already with Finnish rock. Every year it’s on and on.

but Sergej, no one seems to be tired of the same folk beat in the Greek songs, cuz everyone keeps voting to it >.< and that had been placed on stage so after that the hard rock, isnt? (and year by year is less original)…
And about the costume, yea it does take part of their win, but its like all, when Sertab won in 2003, i think 90% of her win was related to the dance..if you see her now singing the song without dancer, you dont gonna believe that she was the winner xD i just cant find the video of her preselection, you gonna laugh xD

well,i think that “hard rock hallelujah” was a good song anyway (at least for the eurovision standars),and of course,lordi’s show made the difference…but I think that terasbetoni’s song was COOL…and probably much better than lordi’s one…I love it!!these guys rock!but a hard rock song couln’t be voted by eurovision fans(according to who has won and who has not so far..)if it’s not supported by a veeery special show….I liked the song and the band (oh…the singer was sooo hot:p -and with a wonderfull voice!)but I don’t know if a good hard rock song could be respected by anyone out there…!:s
