U osvitu modrom galija jedna,
Tog dalekog leta Gospodnjeg,
Sva bela je digla pod oblak jedra
I čekala vetar za dalek svet
I sinjim morem ploviće
I Kelte hrabre povešće
U osvitu modrom galija jedna
Dalekog leta Gospodnjeg
To oružje svetlo, mačevi sjajni
Kroz vale pesma čula se
Sad plove ka gazu, granici tajni
Sudbini svojoj bliže se
I pesnici ode spevaće
I bogovi mudre čuvaće
Sad purpurom plovi galija jedna
Dalekog leta Gospodnjeg
Sa sunčanim lugom, Balorom mračnim
Velike bitke vodiše
Još pamti i more, pobedu silnu,
Kraljici svojoj doneše.
I pesma je morem plovila
I bogove moći slavila
U osvitu modrom, lađa se jedna
Kraljevstvu svome vraćala
Još legenda čuva hrabrost i tajnu
Velikih keltskih ratnika
English Translation
Galley
In the blue sunrise there was once a galley
On that long ago God’s summer’s day,
She raised the white mainsail under the clouds
And waited for the wind to go to the far away land
And she will sail the big sea
And bring the brave Kelts with her
In the blue sunrise there was once a galley
On that long ago God’s summer’s day
Those light weapons, and the shining swords
You could hear the song through the waves
Now they’re sailing towards Gaza, to the secret borders
They’re getting closer to their destiny
And the poets will compose new song
And will protect the wise gods
Now the purple galley is sailing
On the long ago God’s summer’s day
With the sunny meadows and the dark Balor
The big battles that they had
(The warriors) They still remember the sea, and brought
The victory of the battle to their Queen.
And the sea was singing the sea
And she celebrated the powerful Gods
In the blue sunrise, there was once a ship
That returned to it’s Kingdom
The legend still keeps the secrets and courage of the
Big Keltic warriors
I admit your translation will make more sense to the English that are reading it and has more words than I can think off 🙂 but the translation isn’t that bad, it still has it’s sentences where they are pretty accurate, may not be poetic but accurate xD
The translation is not very good. I offer what I believe to be a better one:
The Galley
In the bluish sunrise there was once a galley
long ago, in that distant year of Our Lord,
all white, it raised its sail under the clouds
and waited for the winds to travel to the lands far away.
And she will sail across the deep blue seas,
and bring along the brave Celts
In the bluish sunrise, that sole galley
long ago, in that distant year of Our Lord.
Those shining weapons, the bright swords,
one could hear the song over the waves…
Now they’re sailing towards Gass, border of secrecy,
getting ever closer to their destiny.
And the bards will be making new songs,
and gods shall be protecting the wise,
as the galley is sailing away into purpure,
long ago, in that distant year of Our Lord.
With the bright Lugh, against Balor the dark,
the great battles they fought…
Even the sea remembers the epic victory
which to their Queen they brought.
And the song was heard across the seas, celebrating the powerful gods.
In the bluish sunrise, one ship was returning to its kingdom.
The legend still keeps the secrets of courage of the great Celtic warriors…
