Olta Boka – Zemrën lamë peng ~ We Gambled The Heart

Albanian 2008 Eurovision Song
Lyrics & Video

Zemren E Lame Peng

Ora si zemër troket
Ora e çmendur rend, akrepa nuk ka
Kohën vodhe ti nga jeta ime
Bora e zerit tënd mbi zemrën time ra

Ah… Ah…

Ora si zemër troket
Ora e çmendur rend, akrepa nuk ka
Kohën vodhe ti nga jeta ime
(Bora e zerit tënd) mbi zemrën time ra
Mbuloi strehën e fundit të dashurisë

Ha… ha…
Dhe ndalen akrepat atje

Ditë pas ditë, ne
Rrahje pas rrahje, më kot kerkuam
Orë e përkryer
Nje zemër jo kurrë s’mund të jetë

Natë pas natë, ne
Rrahje pas rrahje, ne të larguar
Por jo, nuk mundëm
Se zemrën të dy e lamë peng
Ha…

English version

We Put Our Hearts At Stake

The clock ticks like a heart
The clock runs crazy, it has no hands
You stole the time from my life
The coldness of your voice fell on my heart
Covering the last shelter of love

Ha… ha…
And the hands of time stop there

Day after day, we
Beat after beat, we looked in vain
For the perfect clock
Which a heart can never be

Night after night, we
Beat after beat, we grew apart
But no, we couldn’t
Because we both put our hearts at stake
Ah…

The clock ticks like a heart
The clock runs crazy, it has no hands
You stole the time from my life
( (The coldness of your voice) fell on my heart
Covering the last shelter of love

Ha… ha…
And the hands of time stop there

Day after day, we
Beat after beat, we looked in vain
For the perfect clock
Which a heart can never be

Night after night, we
Beat after beat, we grew apart
But no, we couldn’t
Because we both put our hearts at stake
Ha…

  1. It is a very nice song, though there were better songs in the competition, but I think she deserved the entrance to the final and a better place than the 17th. 🙁

I enjoyed it the most because I understood th lyrics. It was in my native tounge. 😉

  2. Yea I suppose this can be one of those songs that you need to listen to a few times to really like it. I thought it was ok after the first time I listened but it became better after a few more times. I liked it too..should have had a better place in the final than it got, it was definately better than Latvia, Bosnia, Spain etc.

  3. first i thought it was booooorrriiinng!! but when i listened to it more and more i started liking it. way to go albania!

  4. I think that this song was the best on this Eurovision…Albania takes 12 points from Romania…Thanks Olta! Zemrën e lamë peng

  5. Yea I agree with both of you two I think 😛
for me it deserved a better place than it got..

  6. I liked it, maybe it has to do with me being just one year younger than her don’t know, but well I liked this before and I put a vote for it. I promised an Albanian friend on MSN to do it too so 😛
I’m happy it went through cause it was among the better songs. I’m really mad and shocked that Switzerland did not make it through though….I should maybe have put a vote for that one too but I was so sure it would go through. How such a beautiful song can not go through I cannot understand.
Oh well, back to this song, it deserves the final place I think. Don’t think it can win but we’ll see if it can get a better place than Albania got in 2004 which is their best place this far I think.

  7. This howl is really boring. I`m surprised with the orchestra in albanian performance.
There is an opinion in Russia that this backward country lives in the feudal regime.

  8. hope she’ll win a good place im a fan of more rythmitic songs but yeeah this albanian song is cool all the best albania ….

  9. Oh really? I’m glad it remains in Albanian, I can’t possibly think it would sound better in English and I think it’s good as it is now.

  10. Yep she is defo only 16

There were some speculations that she might sing at least parts of the song in English but, in the end, they decided that the song will remain entirely in Albanian because translating it would be difficult.

  11. Oui 😛

  12. I agree with you Croushy..I cannot decide whether this song or Romania’s should get my 12 points, so that’s why I’ll probably vote for both in the competition 😛 and actually the singer is only 16, born 1991..so she’s just one year older than me 😛

  13. I have found a better and more correct (at least I think it is, I don’t know the language) translation of this by the way.

  14. I think this is a really cool and nice language (dua mësoj shqip :P)and the song is quite nice too I think. and I like when people actually dare to sing in another language than english all the time./jonathan from sweden
