Niz polje vjetar miriše
I bol me prati kao sjena
Da l’ negdje za mnom uzdišeš?
Gdje si od mene sakrivena?
U kosu stavi ruzmarin
I jedan cvijet kraj šadrvana
Lejla, zar bi mogla ti drugog voljeti?
Golube, moj golube
Nosi joj suze mjesto pjesme
Ako te sutra zaprose
Znaj tamo neću biti ja
Lako se tuge oproste
Al’ samo ljubav nikada
Zar bi mogla ti drugog voljeti?
Golube, moj golube
Nosi joj suze mjesto pjesme
Ja odlazim k’o da sam kriv
Što voljeh onu koju ne smijem
Golube, moj golube
Nosi joj suze mjesto pjesme
Odlazim k’o da sam kriv
Što voljeh tebe koju ne smijem
Što voljeh tebe
Lejla
English Translation
Layla
I can smell the wind down the meadow
And pain follows me like a shadow
Are you still somewhere longing for me?
Where are you hidden from me?
Put rosemary in your hair
And a flower by the old fountain
Layla, how could you love another?
Dove, my dove
Carry the tears to her instead of the song
If tomorrow they ask for your hand
You should know I wont be there
Sorrows are easily forgiven
but only love never is
How could you love another?
Dove, my dove
Carry the tears to her instead of the song
I’m leaving as if I was guilty
of loving the one I’m not allowed
Dove, my dove
Carry the tears to her instead of the song
I’m leaving as if I was guilty
of loving the one I’m not allowed
Of loving you
Layla

thanks for the videos!!! every song has a video. very good…
Any time! 😉
Thank you very very much Spring!!! Yes the “Što voljeh onu koju ne smijem” thing is a bit messy but I will understand… 😀 But thanks for your effort…
To be honest, I probably just copied the last verse 😀
But if I hadn’t, I guess the same thing would have happened, because:
“Što voljeh onu koju ne smijem” = For loving (in the past) the one I’m not allowed to
“Što voljeh tebe koju ne smijem” = For loving (in the past) you whom I’m not allowed to (sounds kinda messy)
“Ja odlazim k’o da sam kriv” = I’m leaving as if I was guilty; as if it’s my fault; I’m leaving like a guilty man
“Odlazim k’o da sam kriv” = Leaving as if I was guilty (the only difference is that the first variant has an “I” at the beginning)
I have a question: In the song it says :”Što voljeh onu koju ne smijem ” and “Što voljeh tebe koju ne smijem ” the words: “onu” and “tebe” are different but as the english translation those two sentences means the same thing. does the words “onu” and “tebe” makes a difference??? or not? and the same thing for “Ja odlazim k’o da sam kriv” and “Odlazim k’o da sam kriv ” there is the word “ja” in the first sentence. but in the second there isn’t. does the word “ja” makes any difference??? I asked these questions because I don’t know Bosnian. I’m Turkish…
😀 Thank you for the comment and you’re welcome! 😀
and I want to say something little; Lejla (as Turkish pronounciation and spelling:Leyla) is a Turkish name too… 😀
This song is one of my favorite songs. maybe the best!!! I’m in love with this song!!! I’s so romantic… Wonderfull, amazing, incredible… I just discovered this song about ten days ago and I’m so glad that I’ve found this song. Now I listen this song at least twice in a day. The words are not enough to describe this song… this song is so different from the other songs. And this is a lovely language. I want to learn this language as soon as I can. And thanks for the translation!!!
Thank you so much for this. Beautiful song and a beautiful language.
